You cross Cap Corse before dropping down the west coast to Calvi, the Golf of Porto, and finally  Piana. The route rises towards the high mountains of the centre Corse to Corte and crosses remote villages and vast forests to the Alta Rocca. You then attack the Aiguilles de Bavella, before switching to the coast of the Bouches de Bonifacio and a final push up the West Coast via Sartene to Ajaccio.

Day 1

Bastia to Saint Florent

The objective of the day is to reach the seaside town of Saint Florent by going around Cap Corse. You will take the only road that runs along the coast. It winds through fishing villages, crossing Genoese towers, small coves and vineyards that make the reputation of the region. A road made up of false flats, bumps, sudden climbs and short descents for your greatest pleasure. Several routes are possible.

Day 2

Saint Florent to Ile Rousse

You will leave the Gulf of Saint-Florent by crossing the Agriates desert. An arid landscape that was once a “breadbasket”. Your route will take you to Balagne where you will discover magnificent villages lost in the mountains. A succession of panoramas that accompany you to Île Rousse. Several routes are possible.

Ile Rousse to Porto

Change of scenery: an almost 100% seaside stage with cornice roads overlooking the gulfs of Calvi and Porto. A colorful stage on the approach to Scandola, with red rocky entanglements plunging into the sea. Possibility of crossing the Col du Marsolinu to reduce the distance.

Day 4

Porto to Corte

Warm up with the climb towards the village of Piana, in order to discover the Calanques de Piana site there and back, before starting the ascent to the highest pass on the island. The Vergio pass (1478 m) leads to the valley of the Niolu shepherds which is surrounded by the highest peaks including Mt Cintu at 2706 m. Finally it is through a narrow gorge that you will reach Corte.

Corte to Zicavo

A 100% mountain stage with the crossing of several mythical passes including Verde 1290 m and Sorba 1311 m. On the program of this day the crossing of secular forests, authentic villages, sublime panoramas. At the end of your race, the authentic village of Zicavo at an altitude of 750 m. We are here on the track of the GT20.

Zicavo to Bonifacio

You leave the Alta Rocca region by crossing the Bavella forest before reaching the Ospédale lake. Begin then a long dive 1000 of D- to join the city of salt Porto-Vecchio. You then meander along the beach road to reach the great citadel of Bonifacio.

Bonifacio to Propriano

You leave the extreme south to go up in the direction of Sartène. You pass near the lion of Rocapina before starting the crossing of the Ortolo valley which goes up by small roads towards the most Corsican of the cities of Corsica. You then dive towards the Rizzanese valley, to reach the seaside town of Propriano.

Propriano to Ajaccio

Last day of your journey on the island, which still offers many wonders to discover. Initially you follow the Gulf of Valinco before joining the great plain of Taravo and its vineyards. The road rises to reach the village of Coti-Chiavari which opens onto the Gulf of Ajaccio. The road plunges towards the seaside that you will not leave until Ajaccio. Holiday ends upon arrival in Ajaccio.

Level

Tough - You need to be in good physical condition, well trained and able to make a continuous effort over several days. Real experience of the activity and regular practice are essential. Stages from 70 km to 140 km per day. Maximum cumulative altitude gain 2500 meters per day. Good cycling experience and weekly practice are required.

Number of participants

Solo travellers possible. Groups of 6 to 15 cyclists.

Guiding

Self-Guided Biking. We provide you with a Travel Dossier complete with IGN map and Topoguide created by our team. During your bike tour our 24-hour assistance service will also be able to answer all your questions and, if necessary, bring you useful tips for the smooth running of your stay.

Luggage transfers

You need to carry only with a water bottle, camera, picnic and wind jacket. The main luggage will be transported by vehicle between the different accommodations.
