Start of your trip in Vizzavona
Meet directly at your hotel at Vizzavona station. If you arrive in the morning, we suggest a warm-up hike through the Vizzavona forest on the GR20 south towards Bocca Palmente.
The GR20 and the Punta Muratello 2141 m
Starting from Vizzavona and following the GR20, you'll climb into the Monte d'Oro mountain range. In the heart of this valley, nestled in the beech and laricio pine forest of Vizzavona, you'll discover the famous Cascade des Anglais. The route takes you past the Bergeries de Portetto, then over the Tortetto footbridge to the Crête de Murello. From the summit, you can enjoy a 360° view of the main massifs of central Corsica. At the end of the day, take the train back to Corte.
The lakes of Melo and Capitello
You will be transferred to the Grotelle sheepfolds via the impressive Restonica gorges. From the sheepfolds, the climb begins towards the Melo and Capitello lakes, then continues to the GR20 at the Capitello gap. You then follow the ridge to Bocca a Soglia before descending to the lakes and valley. Finally, a transfer will take you back to Corte.
Lake Nino
An early morning transfer will take you to the Scala di Santa Regina, then on to the Niolu valley. The hike starts from the Poppaghja forest house, in the heart of the Valdu-Niellu forest. Heading up the valley, you'll reach the Bocca a Stazzona via the Colga sheepfolds. The path then takes you to Lake Nino. This lake, the second-largest in Corsica, nestles at an altitude of 1,748 m and offers an idyllic landscape of green grass, pozzines and surrounding peaks.
The Golo Valley
Leaving the hotel, the forest clears as you approach the Radule sheepfolds, giving way to Laricci pines. A mineral world awaits you. The GR20 goes deeper into this valley whose rocks bear witness to a past of glaciations, to reach the highest refuge on the GR, Ciottulu di i Mori at 1990 m. Return to Vergio along the same path before the transfer to your accommodation in Haut Asco.
The Monte Cintu
You'll need to make an early start to tackle the north face of Monte Cintu, the highest point on the island at 2706m, following the GR20. It's a highly technical climb through scree, slabs and boulders. At the end of the effort, the comfort of an emblematic summit offering beautiful views of the island's massifs.
From Haut Asco to Bonifatu
From Ascu-Stagnu, it's a steep climb to Bocca Di Stagnu (2010 m), located on the edge of Muvrella (2150 m). The panoramic view over the bay of Calvi is one of the highlights of this hike. Just before reaching the Carrozzu refuge, the Spasimata footbridge offers its share of thrills. From Bonifatu, a short transfer (30 mins) will take you to Calvi.
