Start of stay in Corte
Arrival at your accommodation in Corte. We propose an educational trail through the narrow streets of the old town. You can then reach the belvedere, which offers a magnificent panoramic view of the region.
The Tavignano gorges
Hike through the Tavignanu gorges, a valley that for centuries was the communication route with the Niolu. Numerous earthworks still bear witness to the importance of this passageway in the heart of a beautiful valley. The Tavignanu is a perpetual invitation to swim, at the foot of the granite cliffs superbly sculpted by time, or in the shade of the Laricci pines.
The Restonica gorges or the Melo and Capitello lakes
A narrow road winds through the heart of the gorges, a splendid route that leads to a mountainous cirque where two glacial lakes nestle, easily accessible on foot. The first lake, named Melo, is reached by a gentle path in a mountain setting. A more strenuous effort is required to reach the Capitello lake, set in a deep rocky basin whose sides, in places, overhang the water.
The GR 20 and Lac de Nino
The walk starts at the Col de Vergio ski station and follows the GR 20 to Lake Nino. Most of the route is crested, offering uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains, the highest on the island. As for Lac de Nino, it occupies a grassy plateau dotted with pools of water known as pozzines (wells in Corsican) where numerous animals such as horses and cows come to graze, creating a unique spectacle.
The GR 20 and the Golo valley
Leaving the Col de Vergio along the GR 20, you'll pass the Radule sheepfolds, nestling in a granite rock setting. Shortly afterwards, the path reaches the Golo, which you will follow upstream to its source. The GR 20 changes banks twice, there are plenty of water holes, and it will be hard to resist a swim before climbing to the Ciuttulu di i Mori refuge (1990 m), the end of this stage. A ridge section before arriving at the refuge offers some very fine views of the west coast. Return to the Vergio pass.
The Spelunca gorges or the village of Girolata
We offer you a choice of several activities. You can discover Genoese bridges and a magnificent river in the Spelunca gorges, or walk to the fishing village of Girolata along a ledge above the sea. For those who wish, a boat trip to Scandola is available from Porto (around €40 per person).
The calanques of Piana
We offer you a choice of several walks starting from Porto. Discover the Calanche de Piana massif, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This hike will be an opportunity to discover an incredible tangle of needles, peaks and ridges of red granite, sculpted and modelled by erosion. For the more athletic, you can climb Capo d'Ortu or Capo Rossu. Holiday ends after the hike.
